MAT is an evidence-based practice that combines the use of FDA-approved medications with counseling, behavioral therapies, psychosocial therapies, and social support services to treat substance use disorders, opioid dependence, and prevent opioid overdoses. It has been clinically proven to be safe and effective in treating addiction using a holistic approach to patient care with comprehensive and individualized care plans that lead to better patient outcomes and higher success rates in the long-term recovery of addiction.
MAT significantly reduces the need for inpatient detoxification services decreasing costs, increasing flexibility, and improves the availability of addiction treatment.

MAT is FDA approved and reduces the relapse risk to opioids by occupying receptors within the brain that are associated with using opioids, block the rewarding sensation related to using opioids, or induce negative feelings when opioids are consumed.

This allows the individual to be stabilized and engaged in therapeutic services such as:

- Social Support Services: 12 Step recovery program (NA / AA) and Faith-Based Programs enhancing spiritual well-being and promoting social support among peers, family, and community members.
MAT is the standard of Opioid addiction care as stated by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
MAT outcomes and results have found that individuals are more likely to be in treatment at one-year follow-up and less likely to be incarcerated. They are also more likely to be employed and less likely to relapse or be using. More likely to sustain sobriety and less likely to overdose with long-term recovery achievable.

Opioid Addiction is a chronic disease due to deficiency of dopamine, a brain chemical that allows people to feel normal, deal with life, be content & happy. As much a chronic disease as diabetes which is due to a deficiency of insulin in the pancreas.

12 Step Program
The 12 Steps were created by the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous to establish guidelines to overcome an addiction to alcohol. The program gained enough success in its early years for other addiction support groups to adapt the steps to their own needs.
